Nikon Z6iii Custom Controls Worksheet

Attention Z6iii Owners!

Do you find setting your custom controls a little…daunting?

Let’s face it – there are a ton of options and a lot of places to put them on the Z6iii and keeping track of everything is tough.

That’s why I’ve created this free worksheet for setting up your custom controls (shooting) menu in the Z6iii!

I have included a table that allows you to fill in each customization you set for the Z8 and Z9, making it easy to keep track of what you have and haven’t programmed as you work (and it’s handy afterward to remember what you put where).

In addition, I’ve listed two pages of customizations that are handy for wildlife photographers, along with some brief notes. This little worksheet will make customizing your camera go soooo much smoother – I know it’s made my life easier.

Also, make sure to check out my new Z6iii Setup Guide Here.

Again, 100% free to anyone, and feel free to share it if you like:

Download Note: If your browser opens the PDF instead of downloading it, you can usually save it by going to the File menu and selecting Save or Save As.

PS – The new Z6iii setup guide is coming soon too (probably about the third week in August)!

Hi Steve, thanks for this one. Based on your Z6iii setting guide I walked the line a bit further, I was really diligent and built an Excel map with all the menus in a specific sheet for each main menu item and put the default settings in one column to begin with.Next, I put my individual setting in the next culumn if they vary from default. To make it more complicated, but easier for me afterwards, I added another column for my 2nd carmera, a Z6ii. Now I can compare the settings of the cameras easily and can document changes… Read more »

Thanks Steve, I will be giving my Z6iii a setup and workout this week if all goes well. I’m already impressed with my little test run. Your guide will get where I want to be with it and hopefully the wildlife will do their part.
Good Shooting to you!

Thanks for the worksheet, now I’m looking forward to the setup guide. This camera is so different from my D7200 in lots of ways, but I’m enjoying getting to know it.

Thank you for this worksheet! I have the Z6iii and am very impressed with especially the speed and autofocus improvements compared to my previous Z6. I have also managed to set it up more or less the way I want it, much because of your tips for setting it up. I can for instance finally save and recall preset focus distance with the 180-600 which is very useful!

Thanks for your sheet. I only have a Z6II, but am interested in acquiring either the Z6II or Z8. I don’t really know what best suits my need so I read a lot about all of these alternatives. PS Are you going to publish a Sony Alpha 9M3 Manual? or an update from the Alpha 1 to A9M3? . Best regards Pirre

Thank you! You’re amazing, Steve. Very kind to share this guide. I’m still a fair ways out from saving for the Z6iii, but your videos about the camera were the convincer. It’s my next camera.
