Are you aware of any kind of clearing house or published list of those who conduct photo workshops? I just got burned by one I picked off line and would like to look for those who have been recommended by a knowledgeable person. I know that may be impossible but gotta ask. The joker that burned me just up and cancelled my reservation and refunded my money but I was out airfare changes and insurance cost.

Hi Steve, I shoot with Nikon professional bodies. While I appreciate your eBook about the Nikon autofocusing systrm, where I have by far the most trouble, and subsequent time consuming delays in my shooting while I make adjustments after “chipping,” is with the Nikon auto exposure system. It seems like no matter which of the three exposure settings (spot, central area or overall scene) that I choose, too often I still have to quickly dial in an exposure change using the exposure compensation dial. Dear Steve. Have just purchased your book, the secrets to the Nikon auto focus system, and are not half way through the book yet. But what I have read so far it is first class, the way you explain the different settings and detail you go into are excellent. It is by far the best guide I have to help me using the Nikon D810. I have always used Nikon Cameras. I shoot a few landscapes. 1940’s events, steam trains and buildings etc. Your wildlife images are superb so crisp and sharp the best I have seen. Hi Steve: Thank you for the extraordinarily rich content you provide. I would love to see more on the Canon system, particularly the AF with the advances in the past few years. Indeed, the same could be said of Sony with the (e.g., the A9). Your videos are always full of useful info and your conversational style is like having your very knowledgeable best friend give you pointers and how to instruction over a cup of coffee. Thanks for all the helpful tips and tutorials. I have your ebook on wildlife photography, and I always watch your you tube posts. The best thing about your stuff is knowing that all your suggestions are thoroughly field-tested.
One suggestion that might be worth doing a tutorial on would be ways to add extra lighting lighting to landscape shots. I personally have a few tricks for using a speedlight to add foreground light to my landscapes – but I’ve always suspected there’s plenty more I could do to bring some controlled light onto my scene.

I had a thought for your survey that might be helpful as you decide your next project. Personally, I would be interested in purchasing books on your list that aren’t in my top three topics and I suspect that many others might feel the same way. It might be useful to ask those responding to the survey a second question, would they be likely to purchase a book on each of the topics in your list topic. Even topics that are not in the top three might still sell well.

After reading your E book I started to use Manual Auto ISO. when I looked at the picture on the back of the camera it was great, but after looking on the computer pictures that were at ISO 3200 (highest i had set for) had way to much noise for my liking. I saw you mentioned Topaz to fix. I have Cloud photoshop which I use. I would love it if you can do a short video on the best way to fix noise on a picture for both photoshop and Topaz to see if I need to invest in… Read more »

I am not at all surprised at the number of Nikon Camera users who voted in your poll here. Your main focus is technique with the Nikon camera. Although most of your instructions – video and books – are transferable between Nikon and Canon, to translate from one camera system to the other with every example and technique would seem watered down and unfocused. I would say that if you were to delve into another camera realm I would completely separate your channels (video and books) into Nikon and Canon to have each project focused on one or the other… Read more »

I have always been very interested in how you process your images to achieve such beautiful clarity and color. While this topic is not currently #1, I would like to ask if you could either produce a few videos of selected images (especially landscapes) and how you went from the raw image to the finished product. A book on the topic would be amazing but if that doesn’t happen some videos would be great.

I really appreciate your instructional videos, especially the ones which simplify some of the basic camera settings for the most basic functions. I enjoyed your 7 Best Nikon tricks video and have incorporated all of them into my settings. Time will tell whether I prefer a couple of them. I especially like your personal approach to the instruction which includes comments on what you like and what you actually do and why. I would like to see a book on exposure, Getting is dead right in the camera every time. I’ve been shooting for may years but refining my in camera Setting close to perfect most every time is my goal. I would like to be able to increase my quality of my photos but also reduce my time spent in Lightroom / Photoshop.

A video demonstration of Nikon tilt shift lenses for focus control in landscapes would be much appreciated:)

Getting through your wildlife book. Great suggestions and help. One thing I would suggest is a training video: Repeatable exercises (after set up) for altering the focus point on birds that are stationary, moving right, left, and towards you. I know it sounds odd, but that is the most difficult aspect I have to deal with.

Hi Steve, As I am 65 years old for me personally I would be interested in a beginners introduction on how to use your camera and what settings you need to use for a specific area as a starter point, i.e landscape, wildlife, sports. Steve, a video or article on using Live View would be useful. Post processing wildlife and BIF using Lightroom and the NIK Collection would also be helpful and unique in that most tutorials focus on landscapes or portraits. Appreciate your work. Tom

Interesting poll, I am mostly a wildlife guy (mammals) and I photograph birds when I can’t find something with fur on it. Anything thing that you decide to do will be of help to us.

I very like your new book. I personally use D500 with the Nikon 500 fl and 1,4 teleconverter. I love the stuff. I learned from you how and why to use automatic ISO and last video tip how to set functions on Fn and F1 buttons. Great help.

Your video methods of instruction are the best I’ve ever come across and have watched them several times over as they are fabulous. Hi Steve Have both you ebooks and have got tremendous value from both. Unlike most photographers I know, I don’t use either Lightroom or Photoshop, so if you plan on a post-processing book I would love to see one that deals with the ‘why’s’ rather than the ‘how’s’. I struggle more with what I should do with a photo than with the detailed steps for doing it. I have an ebook on ‘Post-processing with Purpose’ by Rojas, but I find it very technical and difficult to read and understand. I reckon the same thing done with your style and wit… Read more »

One thing I always enjoy is the story behind a shot, or the details of a trip. Things like how you spotted wildlife and set up the shot, how you selected a spot for a landscape, how you took advantage of the weather or got the shot despite the weather, etc.I think we’ve all nearly fallen off a cliff, sunk calf deep in mud, frozen our fingers off, etc to get the shot. It’s interesting/inspiring to hear or read these kinds of accounts.
