I’ve had tons of people asking for my Sony a1 wildlife photography setup – and it’s finally here!
In this video, I’ll show you, step-by-step, how I set the Sony A1 AF menus and talk about how I leverage each adjustment in the field. In addition, I’ll also share my lightning-fast, game-changing AF button setup – and how you can use it to put more keepers on your cards than ever before. Get ready to use your a1’s AF system at a whole new level. Check it out!

Remember, what’s in the video is just a small taste of what’s in my Sony a1 Setup Guide. Click here to check it out – I know you’ll love it!
This is very important information about Sony A1. Thanks for sharing.
Is the Z9 focus guide in the works?
I’m updating the mirrorless AF book at the moment. I think I’ll probably put out a Z9 wildlife setup guide as well.
CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE YOUR Z9 GUIDE!
THANKS,
BOB
This is a great guide and ridiculously cheap. I don’t normally pay for bird photography advice but this has been invaluable to me due to my complete move from Nikon to Sony.
Thank you so much 🙂
Great work! Do you have a similar one for the A9ii?
No, I started with the a1.
Thanks Steve for another great video! It’s a great overview as to what the Sony A1 is capable of but I would urge anyone who wants to squeeze the full potential of what the A1 can do, BUY THE GUIDE! I bought it last week before heading to Northern MN to photograph owls and my keeper rate went up exponentially. I especially had issues with capturing birds in flight but the sections alone on autofocus settings and modes worked astoundingly well! And the section on button customization for changing AF modes was especially helpful. I think this is my sixth… Read more »
Thanks so much 🙂
Agreed! This book is impressive… easily the best I’ve read. Worth every penny… actually Steve could have charged more for it 🙂
Great video thx. I have the new A7 IV and am wondering if your A1 setting would be appropriate for the A7IV. Any thoughts?
I don’t have an a74, but from what I hear they are very similar.
What photo printer are you using? I am a big fan of kodak for photo printing
Good work Steve. Enjoyed the video but am enjoying the A1 guide even more!!
Correction you may want to double check. At the 28 minute mark of the video, the text below the focus peaking example says “It’s saved in the actual image”………….referring to the added “paint”.
Shouldn’t that read It’s NOT saved……………..?
Nice Work. I hope you will be publishing something similar for the Z9.
wow just bought the guide!!??? is this the same as the guide????!!
It’s only a very small part of what’s in the guide. The guide is far more comprehensive and veers everything I chance – not just the AF features.

Nope…guide contains much much more!
Steven , your amazing. Although I bought your A1 guide (it’s awesome for anyone wondering) the video is a nice addition. Thanks!!
