These two and I had a bit of an awkward relationship over the summer of 2012. It mostly consisted of them seeing me and then running away.
I kind of have that effect on kids I guess…
Anyhow, as I’m fond of pointing out, I’m nothing if not persistent (my wife likes to use the word “stubborn”). So, I kept coming back and getting skunked over and over again throughout the summer.
Until one day…
They decided maybe – just maybe – I wasn’t so bad after all. (Maybe that shower actually paid off ?) I kept my approach easy and deliberate, taking my time with each move and being exceedingly careful not to do any scary stuff (snapping twigs, sudden moves etc).
As the morning wore on, I captured a variety of poses – mostly of one or the other browsing on greens – but there was one moment when they were close enough together for a good photo.
And, naturally, not looking towards me at all.
What to do? Easy, I just did a long, sweeping wave with my hand overhead. That got their attention and – CLICK! – I got the shot 🙂
